On the 20th September, the 29th edition of the CERSAIE - International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings - was inaugurated by Governor Vasco Errani and Mayor Virginlio Merola.Until Saturday 24th September, 176.000 msq will welcome over a thousand companies from all over the world that will present the sector's news.Walking through the aisles of the fair is like a accelerated course of globalisation. The large part of visitors are foreigners and 80% of the sector's revenue are deriving from export.Mrs Marcegallia (Presidente of Confindustria) explained at the inauguration that a global leadership must ask to the Italian goverment to preserve its manufacture system. Gianfranco Manfredini Presidente of Confindutria Ceramica) also pointed that "the Made in Italy is capable of winning against the competition thanks to the union of technology and design." The Mutina's stand shows without any doubt that savoir faire. Exhibition stands often demonstrate a redundant and confused relation between space and products. Here on the contrary, the display doesn't leave any space to decorum and relies on the factory style where everything is calculated. Every single details have been studied to bring out the products and communicate their perfection and quality, simulating a museum installation. The organisation of the central space allows access to 5 boxes that welcome works of famous designers: 1. Tokujin Yoshioka, "Phenomenon". 2. Patricia Uquiola (also Mutina's stand designer), "Dechirer" and "Flow". 3. Ronan & Erwan Bouroulec, "Pico" - Rodolfo Dordoni, "Stage" 4. Silvia Giacobazzi, "Velvet" and "Ceramica nera" 5. Raw Edge, "Folder"Clearly, the most spicy stand was designed by Antiche Fornaci Sant'Agostino, made of simple walls covered with red chilli peppers to catch the attention of curious and amused visitors. It's an amusing way to call the attention, away from the other stands that put on display female models in deshabillé or in body painting to match the colour walls. The structural candour of the Edilgress's stand is also very interesting. They have launched their new product (a tile that imitates stone) in a schematically, sober and neutral yet convivial stand, with its protected but never closed spaces.
