Interview with Ta-Chin Danny Lin : Frank Scott: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?. Ta-Chin Danny Lin : The main idea is to protect patients more by reducing the chance that occur the secondary injury. .Frank Scott: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?. Ta-Chin Danny Lin : I was focus on how to move patients onto the stretcher. Then I figured out the best way is to put the stretcher beneath the patients' body directly. .Frank Scott: What are your future plans for this award winning design?. Ta-Chin Danny Lin : To let this design been seen. .Frank Scott: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?. Ta-Chin Danny Lin : It took three to four months. .Frank Scott: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?. Ta-Chin Danny Lin : This concept was designed in a class in Art Center College of Design. .Frank Scott: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?. Ta-Chin Danny Lin : I don't have any plan on this yet. .Frank Scott: What made you design this particular type of work?. Ta-Chin Danny Lin : I am always enjoy resolving the function wise problem. This project was a good fit for my strength and I enjoyed it. .Frank Scott: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?. Ta-Chin Danny Lin : After a lot of market research, I came out this concept through ideation and mockup by myself. .Frank Scott: Who is the target customer for his design?. Ta-Chin Danny Lin : The target users are emergency rescuers. .Frank Scott: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?. Ta-Chin Danny Lin : This design was inspired by the scoop style stretcher. I took it further to a higher level. .Frank Scott: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?. Ta-Chin Danny Lin : Lenify is the synonym of relieve. To reduce and ease patients' hurt and fears. .Frank Scott: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?. Ta-Chin Danny Lin : I started with hand sketch and made mockup by laser cut and acrylic. Using SolidWorks and Photoshop to finish render. .Frank Scott: What is the most unique aspect of your design?. Ta-Chin Danny Lin : I figured out the handle structure by myself. This unique structure made this concept more believable. .Frank Scott: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?. Ta-Chin Danny Lin : I worked for this concept on my own. .Frank Scott: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?. Ta-Chin Danny Lin : I have done some research about the injury event caused by stretcher. And I saw a lot of videos online with stretcher failing during the operation. .Frank Scott: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?. Ta-Chin Danny Lin : 1. How to reduce the chance to move patients. 2. The mechanism to assemble the parts. .Frank Scott: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?. Ta-Chin Danny Lin : I would like to hear any feedback for this concept. .Frank Scott: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?. Ta-Chin Danny Lin : I figured out that the testing model and proportion are really important and helpful for a successful design. .
